December 2001: "We think those groups that have gathered here [#Bonn2001] cannot really represent Afghan people."
Imagine if the CIA listened to these Afghans when picking the interim leader for Afghanistan in 2002.
"We think those groups that have gathered here [Bonn 2001] cannot really represent Afghan people. Because those people have just taken the power by force like all groups did in the past 23 years & I think representation is due to the military power. Student protestor Hasin Saber
“We're getting together all the representatives of most of the key parties in Afghanistan, & they're going to sit together at Petersburg near Bonn & they're going to start talking through, how to manage the transition to a broad base government..."🇬🇧 Envoy, Steven Evans #Bonn2001
@BBCYaldaHakim @KarzaiH What was Karzai’s role from 2001-2014?
Karzai became interim leader when he received 2 votes at #Bonn2001. Person Afghans wanted to represent them, Dr. Satar Sirat, received 13 votes. CIA Dir George Tenent intervened for Karzai (who had landed in Kandahar with US special forces)

So we are returning back to #2001 & maybe worse than that. Though D #USTalibanDeal is not shared with D people but from Mr. Khalilzad’s @US4AfghanPeace interview, for Afghans the deal look similar to that of #Bonn2001 or the 90s. It doesn’t promise to end war permanently or 1/3
