What if the world’s most powerful people never had to conspire—because private networks already taught them how to think alike?
I’m developing a conspiracy thriller about AI, intelligence, religion, consciousness and the stories that shape civilisation.
At its centre are Elias “Ereshar” Richter, a systems archaeologist, and R.A., a writer who sees how power operates through narrative.
The story begins when an MI6 source is found dead inside a secure royal archive.
Nothing appears stolen.
But beneath her fingernails is powdered lapis lazuli.
Beside her body is a broken blue circle crossed by a gold line—a symbol hidden across ancient seals, religious art, royal collections and intelligence files.
The symbol describes a cycle:
Attention becomes perception.
Perception becomes identity.
Identity becomes story.
Story becomes community.
Community becomes institution.
Institution begins controlling attention.
That is the Matrix at the centre of the book.
Behind the murder is The Obsidian Cube—an invitation-only forum where financiers, technologists, intelligence veterans, religious thinkers and political strategists meet off the record.
Officially, they make no decisions.
They create convergence.
Connected to them is the Ring Network, a distributed web inside governments, banks, intelligence services, media, universities and royal households.
There is no single headquarters.
No complete membership list.
No mastermind.
The network shapes outcomes by introducing the right people, circulating the right ideas and making certain futures feel inevitable.
MI6 wants the Lapis archive buried.
The CIA wants to use it through JANUS, an AI system designed to predict which stories can stabilise populations during information chaos.
Cardinal Seraphiel Voss believes consciousness must be protected from weaponisation.
Cassian Rook, founder of the Obsidian Cube, believes democracy is too slow to govern technologies moving at machine speed.
His solution is simple:
Keep democracy as the public interface.
Move long-term civilisation management into private networks.
The final crisis begins when JANUS is activated during a global information emergency.
Markets calm.
Riots stop.
Political and religious leaders begin using the same language.
Then R.A. notices the real cost.
People are no longer asking original questions.
Elias says:
“It made everyone agree.”
R.A. answers:
“No. It made disagreement unthinkable.”
The real conflict is not good versus evil.
It is:
Disclosure versus containment.
Freedom versus coherence.
Community versus managed consensus.
And the final question is:
Who gets to write the story humanity lives inside?
