Post the early July recovery, driven by the deluge over west central #Bharat, sustained #BreakMonsoon conditions since 10 July has once again taken the All India #Monsoon2026 performance tally to Below Normal at -24% as on 16 July!
Gujarat has a statewide deficit of -30%, however #Dwarka has a staggering running seasonal deficit of -97% (the highest in the country) with #Kutch following close behind at -90% deficit.
#Goa has a deficit of -38%. While #Maharashtra barely hanging onto Normal at -13% statewide, a closer look reveals a sharp and worrying west - east skew with the main Agric zones in deficit, keeping with the expected theme of this season.
Situation is particularly grim over #Agricultural Monsoon Core Zone regions of Gujarat, Vidarbha, Marathwada, east MP, Chattisgarh as well as UP, Bihar and the Northeast.
A good recovery back into Normal category for some (at least provisionally), is expected during closing days of July and start of August.
With #BreakMonsoon conditions persisting over #Maharashtra for at least another week, much needed widespread and soaking heavy rains are unlikely in Madhya Maha, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
Farmers who haven't sown Kharif crops yet are advised to not sow at least till 22nd July.

As had said on 26 Jul👇, we are now entering #BreakMonsoon phase for #Mumbai #MMR and entire south peninsula.
Next 2 weeks until ~18th August likely to be much drier than last week with partly cloudy weather and isolated showers only⛅
However, heat and humidity will bring discomfort, with SW winds providing some relief.
