TONIGHT, join us at 6pm for our March #GDTMonthlyMeeting!
We're diving deep into the details behind the #FrontRangePassengerRail Joint Service proposal that would combine RTD funding for #NWRail with new state resources to kickstart and #BuildFRPR.
https://t.co/40FZfn5ANA
$94M of new funding for #FrontRangePassengerRail was announced today, incl. $66M from the Feds!
Let's go #BuildFRPR! Congrats on this critical step to the #FRPRDistrict, @ColoradoDOT, and @RideRTD!
Big thanks to @GovofCO @jaredpolis for your leadership, let's get this done!

Today’s grant will make freight rail traffic in some of our busiest growing communities safer quickly while providing critical building blocks for Passenger Rail. This major funding will help achieve important priorities like complying with longstanding federal standards and improving the safety of rail crossings, which can be the sites of dangerous incidents. With more than $66 million in federal support from the Biden-Harris administration, the future of Colorado’s rail network is a clear priority for the federal government, as it should be. We thank @SenatorHick and @SenatorBennet, @RepJoeNeguse and @RepPettersen, and our communities for their support of this important project.

GDT celebrates $94M in new funding for the #FrontRangePassengerRail project (including $66M from the Feds via a CRISI grant)!
May this be the first of many Federal funds to help #BuildFRPR as the backbone of a
#FastFrequentReliableAndAccessible network.

NEW: Colorado got a $66m federal CRISI grant to improve infrastructure on the BNSF line near Westminster that state officials hope will one day hold Front Range passenger rail.

@Nerd4Cities @jaredpolis Read our case for a Fast, Frequent, Reliable, and Accessible #FrontRangePassengerRail service:
To #BuildFRPR that is useful, we need the #FRPRDistrict to raise enough money to (1) acquire right-of-way and (2) build substantial amounts of dedicated track.

Leading 🇺🇸 urbanist influencer @Nerd4Cities voiced his support for #FrontRangePassengerRail!
He called on Governor @jaredpolis to #BuildFRPR that is frequent - not 2-3 trains/day for tourists, but double-digit roundtrips/day useful for CO residents.

Exciting details on pot'l future #LongDistanceAmtrak routes from @nbminor with commentary from our partners at @Colo_Rail.
Challenge is if we #BuildFRPR and get even SOME of these LD routes, we'll be quickly running out of tracks at Denver Union Station.

The @GovofCO Jared Polis dropped in to the @Colo_Rail meeting for a hot minute to thank & wish outgoing president #JimSouby a happy retirement.

The #FRPRDistrict Board decided it will target going to voters to #BuildFRPR in 2026 instead of '24.
We view this as the right decision. The question is, will the project on offer be Fast, Frequent, Reliable, and Accessible or not?
Read our case here:

It's official. The Front Range Passenger Rail District Board just voted to bring any new tax to the voters in 2026 instead of 2024.
@RepDeluzio @Amtrak We need a #FrontRangePassengerRail service in Colorado that is Fast, Frequent, Reliable, and Accessible.
If we #BuildFRPR that isn't reliable, people won't ride it.
Whatever proposal goes to voters must plausibly promise a reliable train, and that takes #DedicatedTracks.

@RepDeluzio These #FreightTrainDelays don't just hurt long-distance trains, but also impact intercity passenger rail nationwide.
The below @Amtrak routes are the closest peers to #BuildFRPR.
Those that are operated on mostly freight-dispatched tracks have VERY POOR on-time performance.

#PassengerTrains that share tracks with US #FreightTrains often encounter MAJOR delays as @RepDeluzio experienced.
To avoid frequent delays that crush reliability on the Front Range,
We need to #BuildFRPR with large amounts of #DedicatedTrack infrastructure, not just sidings.
🚂 Took the train down for votes in Washington, curious why it's a 7+ hour ride? My team and I are digging into what we can do to fix this.
As we #BuildFRPR, we need to make sure @CityofBrighton and @greeleygov are not forgotten and remain part of the plan for rail in CO.
Fun Fact: @RideRTD's N Line ends in Thornton today, but the agency owns 30+ miles of disused tracks all the way to Adna, <10 miles from Greeley!
Good afternoon from the Union Pacific depot in Greeley, CO (former Denver Pacific Rwy.). Former station siding still preserved out front, UP’s Greeley Sub still active behind (see next post)

@jamesflattum @denverpost "If we ask for too little, a .1% or .2% sales tax, then we get trains without the dedicated tracks needed to support reliable service that we can build on for the future. We need closer to .5% to get that.”
Lets #BuildFRPR for the future. Share #RoW, but build #DedicatedTrack.

“We support a vision of Front Range Passenger Rail that is fast, frequent, reliable, and accessible. That means building infrastructure."
Our own @jamesflattum provided comment to the @denverpost about why Colorado needs to go big to #BuildFRPR right.

While more work is needed to capture public willingness to #FundFRPR, we have seen a clear excitement to #BuildFRPR that is FREQUENT!
Among a sample that pays at least some attention to #urbanism and #mobility issues in CO, there is an overwhelming preference to go big!
Initial results from our #FundFRPR survey! Of the 547 responses,
✅95% support #BuildFRPR!
✅94% would raise sales tax on themselves to fund it!
✅85% favor a higher 0.5% sales tax to fund more frequent (12+ RT trains/day) over a lower 0.1% sales tax (only 3-6 RT trains/day)!

@BlvdSubway Took inspiration from your project:
Our proposed merging of Denver RTD's stub-end (1) NW and Gold Lines (currently 25kV 60Hz heavy rail) and (b) the 750 V DC SW and Central Platte Valley light rail lines to share with future intercity rail. #BuildFRPR

The #BuildFRPR (y/n) question will go to voters, possibly in 2024 or 2026, but essential decisions are being made RIGHT NOW that will determine what type of train will be on offer: Will there be only 2-6 trains/day, or could we see 12+ roundtrips/day?
Make your voice heard!
Front Range Passenger Rail is coming to your ballot! Train service will be on offer from Pueblo to Fort Collins via Boulder, Denver, and CO Springs.
How often should they run? How much service would you fund? Take our 1-min survey today!
