➡️Clinical data indicate that COVID-19 causes cardiovascular complications, regardless of the severity of the disease.
➡️In this work, we have shown that SARS-CoV-2 infection causes vascular dysfunction due to the modification of endothelial cell elasticity.
➡️The results presented in this paper show FOR THE FIRST TIME that SARS-CoV-2 infection directly changes endothelial elasticity and causes cytoskeletal reorganization which is related to the development of endothelial dysfunction.
➡️Endothelial dysfunction already the focus of many other high valued studies!
➡️Consequently, we believe that nonproductive SARS-CoV-2 infection associated with loss of the endothelium elasticity may be clinically relevant and result in dysfunction and damage to this tissue.
➡️This may contribute to a better understanding of the development of vascular complications in COVID-19 as well as the discovery of new directions of therapy.
‼️Changes in endothelial elasticity brings me directly to the development of post-C19 hypertension, for one!! Guess what multiple Sars2 reinfections might cause…. ,OMG, more of this, a MAJOR CVD risk factor!

@JMeddings This appears to be our new - no mitigation - baseline and that’s not a good thing. It’s why 2022 has already been a deadlier year for Covid than 2021.

@JMeddings Prevalence in Edmonton has been extremely variable all summer with a very high average. Comparing with Calgary where there was a definite July wave.
What people should note though is that in both cities prevalence is roughly equal to the *peak* of Delta.
