Peking duck is a dish from Beijing (Peking)[a] that has been prepared since the Imperial era. The meat is characterized by its thin, crispy skin, with authentic versions of the dish serving mostly the skin and little meat, sliced in front of the diners by the cook. Ducks bred especially for the dish are slaughtered after 65 days and seasoned before being roasted in a closed or hung oven. The meat is often eaten with spring onion, cucumber and sweet bean sauce with pancakes rolled around the fillings. Sometimes pickled radish is also inside. Crispy aromatic duck is a similar dish to Peking duck and is popular in the United Kingdom.

About Chu Yan
Chu Yan is an associate professor from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, one of China’s Top 10 Fashion Designers. Chu Yan was the designer-in-chief of the costume for leaders attending the 2014 APEC Summit. She was awarded the honorary certificate by the Leading Group of the preparatory work for APEC Conference 2014 in Beijing. She has made outstanding contributions to the inheritance, rescue and innovation of Chinese traditional costumes. As the founder of the Chinese traditional costumes brand “CHUYAN”, she won many honors such as the first prize in “DESIGN 21” International Young Designers Contest organized by UNESCO and the China Designing Industry Top Ten Youths. She participated in and presided over more than 20 projects such as "Innovative Design of Chinese Concept Costume" of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. She has published more than 30 papers and works of art in professional academic journals.

The lecture thoroughly interprets the three aesthetic characteristics of Peking opera, namely being comprehensive, symbolic, and stylized. Chinese opera, ancient Greek opera, and Indian Sanskrit opera are regarded as the trinity of classical operas. Peking opera, as the most representative one under the umbrella of Chinese opera, is the most influential one in China, has the largest audience, and achieves the highest artistic standards. It is known as the “quintessence of Chinese culture”.
The lecture thoroughly interprets the three aesthetic characteristics of Peking opera, namely being comprehensive, symbolic, and stylized. Meanwhile, some wonderful fragments of performance are presented to demonstrate performance methods, stage forms, schools and their distinctive singing techniques, and costumes of traditional Peking opera, which reveals the Chinese-style performance system of Peking opera.
中国戏曲与古希腊戏剧、印度梵剧并称为世界三大古典戏剧。而京剧则是中国戏曲中影响最广、观众最多、艺术成就最高、最具代表性的剧种，被誉为中国的“国粹”。
讲座深入解读了京剧综合性、虚拟性和程式性三大独特审美特征，并结合精彩的戏曲片段，生动形象地展示了传统京剧在表演手段、舞台形式、流派唱腔和服饰装扮上的独特魅力，为我们揭示了京剧具有“中国气派”的表演体系。
About Lecturer: Zhang Jianguo
Zhang Jianguo, national A stage actor, is a famous Peking opera performing artist. He is an expert who enjoys the special allowance of the State Council and the director of the China Peking Opera foundation. He has won many honorary awards, such as the Magnolia Award leading role award, best performance award of Young and Middle-aged Peking Opera Actors TV competition, Mei Lanfang Gold Award, Plum Performance Award, China Gold Record Award, Wenhua Performance Award, Audience Favorite Actor Award, etc. He has served as the head of the third troupe of the National Peking Opera Academy of China.

张建国，国家一级演员，著名京剧表演艺术家。享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家，中国京剧艺术基金会理事长。曾获白玉兰主角奖、中青年京剧演员电视大赛最佳表演奖、梅兰芳金奖、中国戏剧梅花奖、中国金唱片奖、文华表演奖、观众最喜爱演员奖等多项荣誉奖项。曾任中国国家京剧院三团团长。

Taijiquan is a traditional physical practice characterized by relaxed, circular movements in concert with breath regulation and cultivation of a righteous and neutral mind. It emphasizes the refinement of one’s mind and breath regulation, and would help to achieve mental and physical health through practices. Originating during the mid-17th century in the Henan Province of central China, the practice has spread to the rest of the country. Influenced by Daoist and Confucian thoughts and theories of traditional Chinese medicine, the element has developed into several schools.
太极拳是基于阴阳循环、天人合一的中国传统哲学思想和养生观念，以中正圆活为运动特征的传统体育实践。该遗产项目注重意念修炼与呼吸调整，通过习练达到修身养性、强身健体的目的。该遗产项目起源于17世纪中叶中国中部的河南省，现已广泛普及至全国其他地区。受道家、儒家思想和中医理论的影响，太极拳已发展出多个流派。

Centering on the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, the scene of "Common Home" innovatively integrates Shanghai folk music with various musical elements from the five continents, showcases the evolution of human history and the integration of civilizations, and calls for the joint construction of an open, inclusive, jointly built and shared earth home. With open arms, Chinese folk musical instruments are engaged in dialogues with the other folk musical instruments, such as South Asian Tabla, Irish Whistle, Spanish guitar, Russian balalaika and African drum, bringing completely different musical experiences through the ingenious integration of music and multimedia.
The concert revolves around the idea of developing a community of shared future for mankind, integrating Shanghai-style Chinese music with various representative music genres from the five continents. By displaying the changes in human history and the development of civilization, this concert calls on all human beings to collectively build an open, inclusive, and shared homeland. It consists of four chapters: Origin of the Universe, Lights of Civilization, Harmonious Rhythm, and Our Common Homeland. Chinese musical instruments are used alongside tabla drums from South Asia, Irish tin whistle, Spanish guitar, Russian balalaika and African drums to bring a unique musical experience through the ingenious combination of music and digital multimedia.
《共同家园》音乐现场围绕构建人类命运共同体理念，创新性地将海派民乐与五大洲多种音乐元素有机融合，展现人类历史变迁和文明的发展交融，呼吁携起手来共同建设一个开放、包容、共建、共享的地球家园。音乐会由《万物之源》《文明之光》《和合相谐》《共同家园》四个篇章构成。从神秘悠远的极地之风，到赤热浩瀚的撒哈拉，从非洲鼓乐的生命呐喊，到弗拉明戈的激情宣泄，中国民族乐器敞开心扉，拥抱世界民族乐器，与南亚塔布拉鼓、爱尔兰锡笛、西班牙吉他、俄罗斯三角琴、非洲鼓等世界民族乐器展开对话，通过音乐与多媒体的巧妙融合带来全然不同的音乐体验。
《共同家园》音乐现场是上海民族乐团2018年原创新作，曾参演第20届中国上海国际艺术节，并于亚洲文明对话大会之际献演于“亚洲文化展演”，获得国内外观众热烈好评。
"Our Common Homeland" music scene is an original production of Shanghai Chinese Orchestra created in 2018. It has participated in the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival and the "Asian Cultural Performances" unit of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, receiving praise from domestic and foreign audiences.
音乐会围绕构建人类命运共同体理念，创新性地将海派民乐与五大洲多种代表性音乐有机融合，展现人类历史变迁和文明的发展交融，呼吁全人类携起手来共同建设一个开放、包容、共建、共享的地球家园。音乐会由《万物之源》《文明之光》《和合相谐》《共同家园》四个篇章构成，中国民族乐器张开怀抱，与南亚塔布拉鼓、爱尔兰锡笛、西班牙吉他、俄罗斯三角琴、非洲鼓等世界民族乐器激情对话，通过音乐与数字多媒体的巧妙融合带来全然不同的音乐体验。
