Nearly 100,000 of you turned in 🤯 We didn’t plan to live stream this launch as most first launch attempts are quite tricky and we’re so busy with the launch itself, but we received hundreds of requests to do so and are glad we threw it together the night before. Thank you for sending us all your photos of watch parties from gymnasiums to your living rooms. Thank you for caring about what we do! We have the capacity to make some small improvements ahead of our next launch attempt, so let us know what you’d like to see and we’ll try our best for you.

All conditions remain nominal for a first launch attempt at approximately 06:30 NDT / 05:00 EDT. The launch window will remain open throughout the majority of the day in case additional time is required to resolve any unexpected technical challenges. NordSpace will be working at the Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX) SLC-02 throughout the night, and Lighthouse Road beyond the security checkpoint will be closed to maintain safety protocols. In-person viewers are encouraged to head to the Cape Chapeau Rouge Trail, and virtual viewers are encouraged to tune in to our live streamwhich will commence approximately 1 hour prior to launch readiness.

Wednesday remains a possibility for launch, however our RSO (Range Safety Officer) and LSO (Launch Safety Officer) believe Thursday and Friday offer more favourable conditions based on current forecasts as the effects of Hurricane Erin subside along the Atlantic coast. Friday is offering the most ideal conditions throughout the day. Our goal remains to choose the best day during our launch window to perform our flight test. Yesterday we ran some additional rehearsals on the ground to stay sharp. We’re getting close, and we’re ready light this candle! 🚀🇨🇦

Canada should be a leader in space. We can use industrial policy to get there. Canada has a proud 60-year heritage in the space sector creating mature space capabilities including being the 3rd country in space with the Alouette-1 satellite. However, in the last decade, even as the sector as a whole has advanced significantly, growth in Canada has stalled. A major factor holding back the industry is industrial policy and ineffective procurement. There is a strong ecosystem of both startups and world-class space companies in Canada, but no route to turn today’s new ventures into globally scaled winners. Canada has the talent, education, and track record needed to win in space. In addition, the current macroeconomic environment has left a void in global leadership, which Canada should claim as a neutral, globally trusted country. However, the country must have the right industrial policy. If the Canadian space industry is to reach its potential, it will require a clear strategy for investing in space to help our companies scale into the global champions they deserve to be. This means: Creating a national space strategy, having the government act as an anchor customer, decentralizing procurement, and reforming regulation. Claiming Canada's place in space is essential for the country's economic future, security, and sovereignty. We can use smart industrial policy to achieve this potential. NordSpace is rapidly approaching its first launch! The historic launch from Canadian soil of our Taiga sub-orbital rocket, powered by our 3D printed Hadfield engines, will represent a massive leap forward for Canadian sovereignty in space and for assured access to it. We’re completing final rehearsals and tests in Ontario at our manufacturing facility and engine test facility, as well as ground preparations in Newfoundland at the SLC-02 site of our spaceport - the Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX). Our portable launch system includes rapidly deployable launch towers and ground equipment, as well as a fully mobile Mission Control.
