Again, ask me how I know. BTW, in today's earnings call my (ex-)employer announced my replacement & thanked me for my contributions (NOT because I was brave/foolish THIS time, although I drove lots of change)

A4) In 5 years, the survivors will be the ones who didn't go hog wild in the "diverge" phase (too many models, vendors, PoCs, experiments, etc.) and didn't have to clamp down hard in the following "converge" phase. Discipline and caution will pay off big. #CIOChat

A hard discussion up front can save months or years of grief down the line...and a bad investment is worse than no investment, because it chews up capital and--even more valuable--executive time & attention

@dhinchcliffe That's a fascinating question. A lot of the wisdom going around says #AI-driven prototypes are so quick and cheap that #CIOs ought to be able to make near-infinite small bets. A few big ones are inevitable. #ciochat
