In MP's Neemuch, a patch of land which was given to Barkat Bai under Mukhyamantri Ashray Yojana in 2008 by Shivraj Singh Chouhan Govt, was removed on Tuesday morning. Family alleged that Municipal removed the home when Barkat Bai was away seeking treatment for her illness at a nearby district. Her son-in-law, Mohammad Rais alleged that the home was razed without notice. "She urged to look after the home before leaving," he said. "How does a patch of land given by the Govt under the scheme be illegal or encroachment?," he questioned. "The land papers suggest that she can't be removed from that land unless the Govt makes another arrangement for her residence, " he added. Hours after the demolition, locals gave a written complaint to Neemuch DM alleging that Municipal officials had been trying to shoo her away from that land from a long-time. They also stalled her funds (2.5 lakh) approved under PM Awas Yojana to prevent her from construction. "To force her to leave the home, Municipal officials dug up Naala outside her house restricting her movement. When she went to the nearby district for the treatment, they silently removed it. When locals questioned the demolition drive and sought its papers, officials misbehaved with them," complain reads.
