If we don’t SUPPORT our own, who will? Day 19… IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE! #CliveCharles began his coaching as a young player in England, but he had no idea then the success coaching would bring to him. In 1989, the university of Portland expanded his duties to include both the men's and women's teams. The winning success in Coach Charles’s career, while incredibly impressive, don’t do justice to his true impact. He directed Portland men's and women's teams, guiding the women to the 2002 Division I championship. He compiled a combined 429-144-44 record while securing 13 conference titles, 20 NCAA tournament berths and seven Final Four appearances. Coach Charles also spent several years as coach of the US U23 men's national team, culminating with the 2000 Summer Olympics. During this period, Charles was battling prostate cancer, but continued to coach the US to a fourth-place finish in the games. He retired from coaching the U23 team after the Olympics, with a record of 23–11–13. Coach Charles was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000, and underwent weekly chemotherapy treatments to treat the disease. He ultimately died of the cancer on 26 August 2003 in Portland. He was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame that same year. Make sure you show Coach Charles some love. #BCAWORLD #BHM #BlackHistoryMonth

I hope that everyone with a ballot votes, because I know that so many of them never get sent in. And that’s ridiculous. There’s a logjam of excellent candidates.
