இந்தியாவில் அண்மைக்காலமாக சிசேரியன் #CSection பிரசவங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை மிக வேகமாக அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. குறிப்பாகத் தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகள் தான் இந்த உயர்வுக்கு முக்கியக் காரணமாக உள்ளன.
சிறந்த மருத்துவ வசதிகள் கொண்டுள்ளதாக கொண்டாடப்படும் நமது தமிழ்நாட்டில் இரண்டு குழந்தைகளில் ஒரு குழந்தை அறுவை சிகிச்சை (C-Section) மூலமாகவே பிறக்கிறது. இது மருந்து துறையில் அரசின் அலட்சிய போக்கையும் தனியார்களின் அசுர வளர்ச்சியையும் உணர்த்துகிறது.
கடந்த நான்கு ஆண்டுகளில் ஒட்டுமொத்த சிசேரியன் பிரசவங்கள் 22%-லிருந்து 27%-ஆகக் கடுமையாக உயர்ந்துள்ளன.
குறிப்பாக தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகளில் சிசேரியன் விகிதம் 47%-லிருந்து 54%-ஆக உயர்ந்துள்ளது. அரசு மருத்துவமனைகளில் இந்த விகிதம் 14%-லிருந்து 17%-ஆக மட்டுமே உயர்ந்துள்ளது.
இந்தியாவில் பிரசவத்திற்காக மருத்துவமனைக்கு வரும் பெண்களின் எண்ணிக்கை உயர்ந்திருப்பது நல்ல விஷயமாகப் பார்க்கப்பட்டாலும், தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகளின் ஆதிக்கத்தால் சிசேரியன் பிரசவங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை குறிப்பாகத் தமிழ்நாடு போன்ற மாநிலங்களில் சரிபாதியாக உயர்ந்திருப்பது கவலைக்குரிய விஷயமாக மாறியுள்ளது.
