Sri Lanka โAโ have beaten New Zealand โAโ by 140 runs in the first one dayer in Galle. Half-centuries by Kamil Mishara, Sahan Arachchige and Milan Rathnayake helped the hosts to 261 and then spinner Wanuja Sahan took five for 13 to bowl out the Kiwis for 121 runs.
Thatโs what my thought is. Playing T20I now with the #T20WorldCup done and dusted and Ireland already qualified on virtue of rankings doesnโt make sense. Focus should be on the #CWC27 which is now less than 2 years away.
India will play 2 T20Is against Ireland in Belfast before the white-ball tour of England in late June.
This is mainly to fill the coffers of the Cricket Ireland board. An Indian match is worth around $5โ10 million USD, so this will be financially helpful for them.
But as a fan, I would have preferred if it were two ODIs. This is where the CWC Super League is needed, as it forces every board to play ODIs for WC qualification. We toured Zimbabwe for 3 ODIs in 2022 for the same reason. Now, without the Super League, an ODI tour to such countries is almost impossible.

Almost every ODI World Cup & Champions Trophy winner in the last two decades had 2โ3 LHBs in their Top 7/8.
Maybe that balance is the missing piece to break the WC jinx.
