@SecCardona @POTUS 15K local government education jobs…how does that help struggling teachers and students? #CancelStudentDebt #cancelstatetesting
The answer to that question is NOT A THING! #cancelstatetesting
"We're asking educators to engage in SELF CARE but we're not changing the circumstances around them....What are we doing to lighten their load?" @TyroneCHoward #tcrwp #tcrwpsaturdayreunion
Not cancelling state testing is in direct opposition to building student and teacher mental health. Not cancelling state testing is just going to highlight the disparities of multiple communities across the country. #CancelStateTesting
In June last year, Rep. @ForSobecki & I introduced legislation to cancel mandated testing in our schools for the upcoming year—to be proactive. Nearly a year later & this is the garbage House Republicans are about to unleash on your schools instead. #cancelstatetesting
@teachcardona @POTUS @VP @SecCardona @teachcardona Congratulations and welcome!! As a fellow educator, you know our students deserve more than state testing during a pandemic. #cancelstatetesting #teachertwitter #studentsmatter #iteachmath #mris #intervention #standardizedtesting
@amyklobuchar Great. Now please push him to #CancelStateTesting. My students deserve my attention and my guidance, not 2 weeks of meaningless assessments that will pull me away from instruction
@JoeBiden I voted for you. State testing should not be a thing this year. Data will be skewed. Children have different living conditions. Some places are still virtual. How can teachers control the environment. Kids are stressed enough. #cancelstatetesting #PleaseHelp
It’ll take 86 hours for my staff to administer SBAC to grades 3-6. That’s 86hrs NOT spent on reading or math instruction, 86hrs not spent building relationships or SEL. Why waste those 86hrs instead of listening to educators tell you what they already know?!?#cancelstatetesting
We have lost so much instructional time this year, but yes, let’s set aside several weeks for state testing.
If you all were so concerned for student’s mental health, you wouldn’t put them through standardized testing. Under NORMAL circumstances is it highly stressful. But now? Inconceivable. Unacceptable. Shameful.

THIS!!!👏👏👏 This man has a brain. A huge one!!! Instead, we need to be looking at growth portfolios in new ways.

Elementary students should not be taking standardized tests. Because testing becomes the focus of education instead of learning. We take away the fun and excitement of learning, playing, exploring, & creating. We create test takers instead of problem solvers and innovators.
@DrBiden Thank you! Please push to cancel state testing this year! It is not fair to the students or teachers. It will not be accurate at all due to the struggles of the pandemic. #cancelstatetesting
After talking about this in our faculty meeting today, I thought a retweet of my NYS Regents rant from last month was warranted. I make lots of angry but (IMO) important points regarding the lack of sense in delaying this decision. #cancelstatetesting #whatareyouwaitingfor
It is unconscionable that the @NYSEDNews and the NYS Board of Regents have not yet canceled the June Regents exams and other state exams. Even if we COULD get every student and teacher a vaccine by June, the exams should unquestionably be canceled. But let me explain why (a 🧵):
Also it is disheartening to see @GovMurphy has neglected to communicate anything to the education department about state testing. Teachers are still being forced to teach to the test and are burning out day by day. We are suffering. The kids are suffering. #cancelstatetesting
Making kids still do district assessments in the middle of a pandemic when administrators know teachers are struggling to get through one simple lesson a week is abuse of power and you can’t tell me otherwise.
