There had been a lot of discussion about DNACPR due to a Twitter thread by a patient’s relative and the subsequent comments.
As a doctor, it has always been a medical decision. Family are consulted and informed but they do not “make” the decision itself.

Over the time I have been diagnosed, I have enquired once about benefit, cos I really want a blue badge.
Yet, it was never followed up, despite having retired.
No one seems to care.
Financial toxicity is real for many.

Have managed my first proper meal since Friday, yes, it’s McDonald’s Mayo chicken (but no mayo) and medium fries, with a cup of decaf tea, no milk half a spoon of sugar

Not been doing so well this cycle of treatment. Realised that I am only managing half of daily caloric intake and also lacking in various electrolyte/minerals.
So back to fortisip I go.
Good job that I actually quite like them (some flavours).

Another shaking attack yesterday evening. Thankfully last of the meds taken so should settle down now. It takes it out of my already frail body, I feel like I've run a marathon. Looking forward to a newer, better me.

I was asked today if I wanted to come to clinic on Christmas Eve for the scan result…
Em… no. I am not sure I can cope if it is not positive news.
Christmas means something to me, keen to be involved. Especially if it is gonna be my last.

I can’t say the current round of treatment is going brilliantly. Physically, I am much worse than before I started.
Mentally, I am just feeling so sad for myself having to go through it all. It is remarkably tiring.
Twitter is providing a lot of relief though.
I admire people with terminal cancer and remains economically active functional being in the society.
Some days, I am not even functional being in my own body.

I think I have mentioned before, having cancer is a very lonely experience. Even where you are well supported.
Because of neutropenia, treatment toxicities, inability to work… whilst the world walks on by. There is a lot of isolation and solitude. How to improve?
