The GritSweeper GS-D6 is the flagship of #EXECUTRON's fleet.
This 150-meter long behemoth is a legitimate #CapitalShip, weighing in at 2,500 deadweight tonnes. Itβs a large and tough vessel which is built to take a few knocks, and is difficult to dissuade from its task.
In keeping with company policy of not commingling the talent pool and revenues, the GritSweeper is an #unmanned vessel.
Because the circumstances of a recovery vary widely, the GritSweeper trails manned craft during #salvage runs and other flight sorties, picking up the remains of debris fields. This model sees extensive use in both #SpaceJunk and #NearEarthObject mitigation.
The GritSweeper has four redundant onboard #Helion Reactors, each with an output of 450 Megajoules, for a total of 1,800.
It reserves most of its power output for a few tasks: charging the GritMiner SD-8 drones it launches, supplying the onboard arc furnace with current for disaggregating debris into raw materials, and powering the isotope separators and instrumentation necessary to collect, sort, and assay the recoveries it makes. It can also be used to tow much larger things, such as Station Alpha itself, via a special docking ring.
The process of #debris salvage is entirely automated once a debris field has been scouted and broken down enough to collect. The Sweeper accomplishes these tasks with the help of its set of six forward-launchable GritMiner SD-8 drones, which it can dock in its 6 forward bays.
The SD-8 is the primary collection point for salvage recoveries, with four bottom mounted arc disaggregators, a near-field electrostatic attractor system, and a central confinement chamber with a topside valve for releasing recovered material.
The form factor is deceptive, and it looks smaller than it is, with a 7.4 by 5 meter internal chamber, which can hold over 200 cubic meters of #cargo.
As with the GritSweeper, this unmanned craft generally paces behind salvage crews and clears the area behind them.
These drones do not have their own onboard reactor, but rather run off of #hypercapacitor charge, and must return to the Sweeper to dock and recharge, or be set upon a dock charger, several of which are available at Station Alpha. It can also be adapted for other working tasks and as a small cargo hauler.
The GritMiner SD-8 can function independently of the Sweeper, with its own onboard #telemetry systems. They can also work in groups of any size. The SD-8 is also rated for other Extra-vehicular and Exterior Industrial Operations when the #MaterialRecovery system is deactivated.
The GritSweeper collates atomizes and separates all recovered materials by their Isotopes upon receipt by default. The arc furnace and isotope separator can be bypassed to allow for direct storage of molecular, solid-body, volatile, or exotic substances.
This vehicle is not rated for #Neutronium storage.

We're making a business model for this game. Space Junk is already a huge problem according to scientists and other space dabblers. EXECUTRON's purpose is to clean it up. Getting mixed up in conflicts that cause messy explosions is therefore bonus income, though we're not trying to lose personnel or our other craft over it. "Safety first or we double our rates."
It takes time to build up a library of "junk" objects that are actually pertinent to space, you need to get or make models that are aesthetically and technically appropriate and then fracture them in a #3DModeling application to get the best results. We prefer to model from scratch, but there are some useful antiquated space structures we'll incorporate here and there.
When building the alpha of a game, the most expedient thing to do is make the enemies destructible first, and demonstrate those systems as the #UnitTest. Many programmers make much to-do about unit testing when working in #Unity, which is .. silly with games. You need to hit play and watch it happen. A console return won't do. In this case, a system of collecting exploded #rigidbody fragments has to be #runtime-tested.
One issue that's common with calculating attractive forces, like #gravity, or #magnetism, is that the more bodies you introduce into a system that exert said forces, the harder it is to resolve the bias of the system. #IsaacNewton's #ThreeBodyProblem shows up in game testing here, when you have a group of several of these drones all attracting the same pieces in their radius - sometimes the debris gets stuck hovering at a sort of #LaGrangePoint loosely defined by the distance of the drones and the falloff of the attractive force.
Although it's easier to gather a large debris field in sending out 6 drones at a time, it may be harder for them to individually get close enough to all of the debris to collect it. The answer? Simplify the equation by sending some of them back early or shuffling their target positions to break from their flank. The debris will fall into a new orbit, usually unstable, and end up being consumed. The #physicsengine handles the rest.
As far as the visual side of the drones, the recovery device has a variation on our Plasma Heat #decal, with the HDR up a little further than normal so you get a nice white #emission heat when it builds up on a piece. any time a chunk passed into the cross point of the bottom prongs on the drone, they trigger the decal and the plasma sparks.
The #VFXGraph has several layers.
The #disaggregator is a variation on our #Thermite effect, where a world transform anchor is moved to the position of the closest piece in front of the device's aperture, so it generally appears to be burning and sucking objects into the chamber.
Since you want it to look like it's being drawn in and confined, we have a #SignedDistanceField of a #toroid at the rim of the aperture, constantly orbiting #particles inward. We like the colors.
Finally, as the device operates for longer, there's a third layer of #VFX with opaque particles that make the chamber appear full so you can delete all those physics objects and keep your frame rate proper. No sense in choking your computer out
We transfer all the information about the materials including Elements, Isotopes, Net Masses, Substances, Items, Artifacts, etc. upon recovery, then destroy the object and remove it from the central Telemetry.
Then you go sell it. This is a business after all.

One way for #Disclosure to happen could be if US & NATO announced there was an Earth/Cosmic Defense #CapitalShip project that people could sign up for.
It's the only place you'll ever be allowed to touch or access the #UAPTech reverse engineered & are working on in case we ever need to defend Earth or humanity in Space by building a "Capital ship" with all the worlds best tech, to defend Earth and its citizens from harm.
Acknowledging Gary McKinnon's Warships in Space Claim may allow for this if it's true they already exist.
I think most'd be ok with that angle if workers/troops were also living on that ship for X amount of years & sworn to secrecy. The tech benefits could slowly roll out to society at large when those people finish 10-20 year training periods, they can help do so & somewhat rewarded in the process for their doing so, to help rapidly advance open disclosure on Earth based on what they do on the ship? #USSHillenkoetter ?
