It decides how people are treated, what opportunities they have access to and how far can they go in life So sit there and thank your stars that you aren’t barred from entering places, temples aren’t washed after your visit, houses aren’t purified when you exit, you can mount a horse for your wedding procession without fear, you won’t be beaten up mercilessly and made to lick the floor forcibly, no one will dare urinate upon you — the list is endless If you can’t empathise and raise your voice against injustice, the least you can do is stay silent and not defy the fight for justice, for fairness and for equality It so happens that you were born in a minuscule part of society where caste doesn’t matter. IT DOES. And the only way to make it irrelevant will be to first bridge the deep divide that exists on the basis of caste - and caste census is the first step towards admitting reality before executing remedial measures Make your peace with it ✊
