Here's a 1968 article from "The Student's Pen," Pittsfield HS in Massachusetts. The author apparently had gone to Chichen and been fed stories by the guides. #ChacMoolMonday

1/2 Great story for #ChacMoolMonday. In 1947 the Minneapolis Institute of Art acquired a Chac Mool of its own donated by Katherine Overstreet (pictured), a socialite and "real airline hostess" (back in the early days of commercial airflight). Chac was a hit from the beginning.

Augustus Le Plongeon, who discovered and named the chac mool, was a diffusionist who believed culture from Mesoamerica influenced the Eastern Hemisphere. One of his proofs was "Red Hands" art, which Paleolithic peoples decorated cave walls on every continent. #ChacMoolMonday
