Crypto Art on Bitcoin Ordinals is digital art that uses Bitcoin as the medium of the art.
That is an important point about art on Bitcoin that is often missed. Digital art on crypto does not need to use the blockchain as the medium of the art.
For example, the NFT token standard on Ethereum, ERC-721 is a digital certificate standard. It's designed to be a certificate of ownership for digital art. The Ethereum NFT is designed for the trading of the digital art, and does not act as a medium of the art. The art lives elsewhere and has no restrictions on Ethereum becuase Ethereum is not the medium for the art.
In Bitcoin Ordinals, the medium of the digital art is actually Bitcoin. The NFT (or digital artifact) on Bitcoin is the art, and not a certificate. The medium of Bitcoin has many great properties, such as censorship resistance, immutability, durability, and decentralization. It also is very scarce, so the medium will get increasingly more expensive if more people use it. Bitcoin fees determine who can use this medium. The Bitcoin fee is very much a property of Bitcoin and also a property of the crypto art that is created on this great medium! ๐ฅ
