Happy Birthday to the legendary #ChetHelms! Chet placed Janis in Big Brother & The Holding Company as the lead singer after discovering her talent in Texas. He immediately knew she was the missing piece to make the band complete.

🎉 Happy Birthday to Janis’ friend and first manager #ChetHelms! Chet and #Janis met in Austin, TX, and ventured to San Francisco together. Often referred to as ‘the father of the #SummerofLove,’ Chet encouraged Janis to sing lead for @BBHC & is a true #legend. 📸: Getty Images.

@GalaxyGallery1 Will do! I love my rock posters collection of the #PsychedelicEra! Including my postcard-sized ones mailed to me every week for the upcoming shows at #ChetHelms & #TheFamilyDogs #AvalonBallroom in #SanFrancisco. You filled out a card at the top of the stairs and put it in barrel.

@GalaxyGallery1 I have this poster. At this same time I remember driving by #KingsBeach #LakeTahoe and seeing #CannedHeat on the marquis. I was a regular at #FillmoreAuditorium #WinterlandArena #CarouselBallroom AKA #FillmoreWest & #ChetHelms & #TheFamilyDogs #AvalonBallroom in #SanFrancisco.
