´´Los hombres jóvenes en condiciones físicas y mentales serán inscritos automáticamente en el registro para el servicio militar obligatorio a partir de diciembre, como parte de una medida incluida en el proyecto de ley anual de política de defensa que el Congreso promulgó a finales del año pasado.
Actualmente, los hombres de entre 18 y 26 años ya deben inscribirse en el Servicio Selectivo en caso de que se requiera un reclutamiento obligatorio. La última vez que estuvo vigente el reclutamiento obligatorio fue en febrero de 1973, durante la Guerra de Vietnam.´´
