Ahunna gave me #Chocovi chocolate from Côte d’Ivoire. Delicious. But the bigger story is economic. Africa has long exported the ingredient while others transformed it, branded it and owned the customer. Chocovi grows the cocoa, makes the bar and builds an Ivorian brand. And this week, it won an ASCEA award in #Pretoria, South Africa, for local transformation, fair trade, value creation and community impact. The bean earns a commodity price. The bar earns a story, a customer and a margin. For generations Africa exported the ingredient. Now we must export the imagination. 🇨🇮🍫
