Congrats to @EliudKipchoge on his sub 2h marathon 🎉.
Did anyone notice the difference in start times? 5:45AM for the unsuccessful attempt in Monza and now 8:15AM for today. I'm a bit biased but I think this played a role in his success.

@DrBubbs @sleeppsyc @sleep4perform Some of the local tee times equivalent to 3:40 am internal time for players travelling from US West coast. Gotta prep ahead and start shifting earlier three days before departure with getting up early, AM light, evening melatonin, block evening light, go to bed early. #circadiwin
The coaches fault actually. Evening chronotype peaks around age 20 so melatonin not being released until later making it nearly impossible to go to bed at 8PM for 5AM wake time. 5AM for an adult would be 3AM for a teen and we would never get up at 3AM.

Athletes: if you’re showing up tired for morning workouts, is it the coach’s fault for scheduling it that early? Or is it your fault for going to bed after 11pm, hitting the snooze 6 times, and not giving your body the necessary nutrients/food to energize your training? 🤔
Estimated internal circadian time of #NFL teams mattered for performance (yards + penalties). Performance was better in the late morning but started to tank a bit in the afternoon.
Can we shift individuals with light to play best at any time of day?

We focus on wavelength (blue light) a lot, but what about the other three light properties that can help shift circadian rhythms?
1) Timing
2) Intensity
3) Duration/pattern #circadiwin #epicfigurepanel
Shifting meals pre-trip (later for west or earlier for east) is a good idea to help sync peripheral (body) clocks. However, it does not impact the master clock in humans. You need timed light for that.

There is no real cure for jet lag; for most people, the best approach is simply to wait until our bodies adjust. New research indicates that adjusting meal times may help to treat #jetlag and get our #circadianrhythm back on track. https://t.co/Lxk01szZ6G
Wanting to be jet lagged? This strategy from @TeamUSA ski jumpers may be genius but not for the reasons mentioned!
◾Germany -8h PYC time ◾21:30 competition time in PYC
◾Competing @ body clock time of 13:30 +/- 3hrs
🤔 13:30 vs 21:30 melatonin ↗️? #circadiwin #PyeongChang2018 https://t.co/fYGf1GAL7M
It's not just about shifting uniformly for odd competition times but should be based on your own internal rhythms.

Shift training, sleeping, eating, + light exposure towards timing of game. Late game = late T/S/E/L etc. #CircadiWin https://t.co/0TDiZ0mDfd
