Just one couple's story: They were refused marriage under the #CivilUnionAct in two @HomeAffairsSA branches near their home in Chatsworth. They drove to Tongaat (60km away) and were refused there too. At each branch they were poorly treated or called derogatory names.
.@0Deidre is giving the vital background to the current #CivilUnionAct. Pre-1994, LGBTI people were seen as criminals, perverts, unfit for marriage, not real families and had no protection from discrimination.
