The year 2026 marks the launch of the China-Russia Years of Education, which will run through 2027. To deepen bilateral cooperation in Chinese language education, a delegation led by Yu Yunfeng, director-general of the #CLEC, visited Russia from June 14 to 16.
During the visit, the delegation signed multiple cooperation documents with the Russian side. These included an agreement with Kazan Federal University (Russia) and Hunan Normal University on jointly launching postgraduate programs in international Chinese language education, a memorandum of understanding with the Education Department of Rostov-on-Don on delivering Chinese language courses at local primary and secondary schools via distance-learning technologies, and an agreement with the China Coal Education Association and CCTEG Russia Development Co., Ltd. to build the China-Russia Coal Science & Technology Chinese Language Workshop.
The delegation also held in-depth exchanges with representatives from various Russian educational authorities and universities. Both sides explored new pathways to expand China-Russia Chinese language cooperation across multiple levels and fields.
The enthusiasm for learning Chinese keeps surging across Russia. Both sides agreed to further deepen collaboration in primary and secondary Chinese language teaching, training local Chinese language teachers, organizing HSK examinations and advancing Sinology research, to jointly advance high-quality development of #Chineselanguageeducation in Russia.

A delegation led by Yu Tianqi, deputy director-general of the #CLEC, visited #Uzbekistan from June 11 to 14.
The delegation visited Uzbekistan's Ministry of Preschool and School Education, where they held in-depth talks with Obidov Sanjar, advisor to the minister. The two side reached broad consensus on cooperation in jointly recruiting Chinese language teachers, establishing Chinese majors in normal universities, and co-developing Chinese language teaching resources.
Later, the delegation visited the International Cooperation Center under Uzbekistan's Agency for Social Protection. Together with the agency, Asia Trans Gas and Xi'an Shiyou University, they signed an agreement to jointly build the Uzbekistan "Modern Silk Road" Chinese Language Workshop and held an unveiling ceremony for the workshop.
The delegation also attended the 2026 Hehe Civilization Forum and hosted its Youth Sub-forum, where Yu delivered a speech. Furthermore, the delegation visited the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages and the Journalism and Mass Communications University of Uzbekistan.
During the visits, the two sides conducted thorough discussions on the development of "Chinese +" majors programs, the application of the "iChinese" learning community, and the joint training of Chinese language professionals both in China and Uzbekistan.

Later, the delegation visited the Tajik National University, where Yu met with Rajabzoda Faridun, its vice-rector, along with other university leaders. A specialized training program focusing on teachers' competencies under the guidance of "Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education" ("Standards") was held in Russia from Oct 27 to 31.
Jointly organized by the #CLEC, the Confucius Institute of the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow and the Confucius Classroom at the Academy of Oriental Languages and Culture "Confucius" (St Petersburg), the five-day program attracted more than 300 local Chinese language teachers from across #Russia both online and offline.
Distinguished guests, including Consul General of China in St Petersburg Luo Zhanhui, Minister-Counselor of Education at the Embassy of China in Russia Cao Shihai, Vice-Rectors from Russian State University for the Humanities Olga Pavlenko & Vera Zabotkina, addressed the opening ceremony.
Eight renowned experts from leading Chinese institutions, including Beijing Foreign Studies University (@bfsu_official), #BeijingLanguageandCultureUniversity, East China Normal University (@ECNUER), Nanjing University (@NJU1902), Central University of Finance and Economics (@CUFE1949), and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (#FLTRP), delivered comprehensive lectures and practical guidance.

Comprising over 40 government officials, university and vocational college presidents, and experts in vocational and technical education from 11 Southeast Asian countries, the delegation also included representatives from UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (

The ninth World Conference on Sinology 2025 took place in #Shenzhen on June 6.

The first China–Central Asia Education Ministers' Meeting was held in #Urumqi on May 12.
