Every #CO kid should get to gold pan! Our 4th graders (thanks to @CentralCOWater) tried swirling gravel in real pans, just like the 1859 #GoldRush prospectors. They learned how finding #gold shaped CO’s history-and even our #waterrights laws! #COHistory #STEM @svvsdss @Lyons_ES

So grateful to the Capitol press & those covering #CoPolitics for the beautifully told stories of former @CoHouseGOP Minority Leader Hugh McKean’s passing & Lying in State.
Appreciate the nod to #CoHistory & Capitol traditions — some beautiful stories. Thank you! #CoLeg

2/2 He encouraged setting aside area parks and open space like Genesee Mountain Park and gave land for the start of the Denver bison herd. Here are a few more photos of gravestones you can see of the steep hillside of the Rockland Cemetery and old Rockland School. #COHistory

Good news from @ColoradoSun & good on Granada HS for all their work preserving #Amache over many years. Great bipartisan sponsored Colorado bill @RepJoeNeguse & Ken Buck but one member of our delegation voted against this designation — can you guess who? #COPolitics #COHistory
A favorite church and landmark in the neighborhood that still looks great today. #COHistory
A view of the Capitol Heights Presbyterian Church located on the corner of Fillmore Street and 11th (Eleventh) Avenue in Denver, Colorado. (1940-1960?) https://t.co/SxPxKP0Ou2

On Nov. 24, 1922, 99 years ago today, Congress approved the first interstate river compact in the United States. The compact allocates the use of Colorado River water between the Upper (CO, WY, UT and NM) and Lower (CA, AZ and NV) Basin states. #cowater #cohistory

Sesquicentennial Minute!: Did you know that, in 1871, the area that would become Co. Springs was so grim and bare that people would immediately get back on the train upon arrival? https://t.co/IV5Opja9HA #coloradosprings TY @COSMuseum ! #cohistory
Good news from @HistoryColorado! Extra hours on Thursday nights and a free day in June 24 to check out the opening of the new Five Points exhibit. Things are opening up if you’re #vaccinated and lots of fun summertime options out there! #GetVaccinated #COHistory
On June 24th, History Colorado Center is hosting a FREE community night to celebrate the opening of our brand new exhibit, “Five Points Plus: Neighborhood Memory Project in the Ballentine Gallery.” 🥳
Currently watching a very good @DenverChannel show about the Colorado WWII Japanese internment camp called Amache in Southeastern Colorado near the small town of Granada. A dark time in Colorado #History #COHistory

@DavidGilbert4U @AlWirtes Lots of them in Colorado. The first was National Jewish. CO drew many TB patients. A study done in the 20s estimated that 60% of Colorado’s population was related to TB treatment — mine included. My Grandmother died of TB in 1932 at Lutheran when my Mom was 7 years old #COHistory
Fascinating story combines science, #highered Colorado history and perhaps a way to pay respects to people who died in Pueblo over 100 years ago. Thank you @coschoolofmines @ChieftainNews and @ColoradoSun #COHistory
