One month ago, Steve was actually released in Smash. And oh boy, Steve is so much fun. He fits right in with the roster but also doesn’t fit all, which is why we love him! #CodenameCRAFT
It’s been a month since Steve was officially announced for Smash Ultimate.
I remember thinking we were stretching the night before, to find Steve had actually made it. It’s still surreal to this very day. Since it’s been a month, how’re you feeling about Steve? #CodenameCRAFT
It’s been a week since Steve and Alex entered Smash. What a wild and surreal week it’s been. I’m just so happy he’s in, and how perfect they made his moveset. #CodenameCRAFT

Under 24 hours to go. And with the final day upon us, we decided to give you a bonus fact.
Steve is gonna have Zombie and Enderman of course, but the other alts are references to Xbox Legacy Skins, which on Xbox 360, were different versions of Steve and Alex. #CodenameCRAFT
Tomorrow, Steve will come to Smash.
The final fact will be his recovery. Steve has the Elytra which acts similar to the glide mechanic from Brawl which made Meta Knight so broken. The feature means you get back on stage from a distance and are hard to hit. #CodenameCRAFT

Steve’s down B is TNT. This block works exactly like Minecraft. You don’t want to be close as it’ll explode, you can set it off with fire attacks or a normal attack. But if you have Redstone, you can make a circuit which can be used for traps. #CodenameCRAFT

Steve, like all fighters, has a sleep animation. And, very fittingly for Minecraft, he pulls out and bed and sleeps in it.

Steve has a building mechanic, much predicted by yours truly. However, it works differently to how we thought. You can build as many blocks as possible within your material gauge, but they deteriorate naturally and other plays can break them too. #CodenameCRAFT

Creeper and pig got Mii fighter costumes. As you probably already know, the pig and creeper share a model relationship given how creepers were made by accidentally increasing pig’s bodies vertically instead of horizontally. #CodenameCRAFT

Smash gives each series an icon to represent it. We were hoping for the creeper face, however the grass block is probably far more fitting in retrospect due to the grass block being the icon for Java edition and blocks being in Minecraft’s DNA. #CodenameCRAFT

One of Steve’s most important details, is his crafting gimmick. In order to do so, you need to manage your materials, which appear through a material gauge right above the character icon. It’s used for most of his moveset. #CodenameCRAFT

This time, Sakurai said in his Sakurai Presents that because of the simplicity in models and movements, ALL coding and effort could go in his moveset.
Goes to show, being out of place isn’t a bad thing 😉. #CodenameCRAFT

One detail I’d like to point out; Steve was given taunts based on YouTubers who use crouching and punching as ways of introducing themselves.
