There seems 2b something rotten in @dcediy. Speaking as a member of the disenfranchised #CollaborativeForum (of survivors) at the Dept, disrespect, coercive control, censorship, misrepresentation r the order of the day. Delighted that #MarianReynolds has spoken out.

The @DCEDIY excuse 4 redacting organisations' name holds no water. Given that significant nos of the victims of this practice (suspected to number several thousand) dont know their own history, they couldnt possibly b identified by naming an organisation https://t.co/sQTBQCTVVG

On Feb15th, at the #CollaborativeForum, I was able 2 direct in person qns to @rodericogorman abt the policies currently in use @tusla #AAI, which he wouldnt & couldnt answer. It took 3 attempts to elicit the response that his "dept continues to engage with those agencies" 6.

Did @rodericogorman @dcediy @tusla #AAI rush to correct their policies? rush to set up a unit to correct their previous illegal decisions? rush to contact those they had dealt with illegally? Of course not, they entrenched their positions & continue to spout lies 5.

Good to hear @MaryLouMcDonald using the adult language of #ForcedFamilySeparation #HumanRightsAbuses etc in her speech not the trivialising #hurt used in other speeches. Her extolling of the recommendations of the #CollaborativeForum r also v. welcome

As a mbr of the #CollaborativeForum I ensured that @tusla was invited in to explain why adopted ppl were being denied their information. We heard that #Gdpr PREVENTED them frm giving out information & that they had to assess the HARM we wud cause by knowing our own identities 1/

I chaired Identity, Infrmtn & Terminology subgrp at #CollaborativeForum (@DeptDCYA own survivor rep. grp '18-'19).We flagged this issue & suggested "detainee"; "institutions" but it needs further work. Re legislation why didnt he just change the bloody '04 Act @rodericogorman 🤦‍♀️

If Minister @rodericogorman wanted to reassure survivors of mother and baby facilities (they were not homes) that there were other things he intended to do for them he should have published and brought such a Bill alongside the current legislation.

To be very clear, the #CollaborativeForum, @DeptDCYA 's own representative grp of survivors, made detailed recommendations on accessing Information & Identity said NO to @tusla involvement in Dec'18. Has @rodericogorman even read this report? or is he only listening to officials

Particularly when @MichealMartinTD misled the Dail on Oct 7th & said that @rodericogorman had engaged with all interested parties. He hadn't even informed HIS OWN DEPT'S group of survivors, the #CollaborativeForum & his officials sent a link to his tweets when ppl asked qns 🤦‍♀️

As @rodericogorman is not shy abt pushing legislation even in budget week, why didnt he propose changing the legislation to reflect the #CollaborativeForum recommendations published by the @DeptDCYA in April 2019 2 create a National Survivor Database, with appropriate redactions?

The 2004 Act also requires that such records are sealed for a period of 30 years pending their transfer to the National Archives. This provision was already in place ahead of the establishment of the Commission.

This ongoing denial of systemic human rights abuses by Irish Govts against Irish citizens was evident in @DeptDCYA @k_zappone @Finegael refusal to publish the 2019 #CollaborativeForum Report into abuses at #MotherandBabyHomes . Denial =complicity IMO #LandwithoutGod

As we ponder and debate whether the #Vatican will ever account for its past crimes, let's remember that #Ireland is also covering up and refusing to take full responsibility for its collusion with the Church. The abuse is not 'historic', it is ongoing and we are all implicated.
