And so endeth Season 2: and what a ride it’s been…! Watching the stories back to back really highlights what a high quality, imaginative & varied season it is - no 2 stories are the same, and there’s no real stinker in there. Spooner’s treatment of The Doctor -
The #CollectionQuest made it safely to the Northumbrian coast & enjoyed its time with The Time Meddler…! This story has always held a place in my heart since it bacon the first proper Hartnell I saw during the ‘92 BBC repeats - needless to say I adored the continuity links…
#CollectionQuest continues apace - or should that be #CollectionCrusade now? First time out watching this one: thought it plodded along to start with, but was absolutely barnstorming by the time it got to part 3. Jean Marsh & Julian Glover are absolute superstars & their scenes..
The Web Planet is my fave story of S2 so it’s no wonder #CollectionQuest burned through this in a couple of days. I’ll let me explain why it’s so great better than I can right here:

Today the #CollectionQuest asks “what has The Romans ever done for us?” Well it’s made us laugh like a drain & feel uncomfortable at the same time. It’s a belter of a script from Dennis Spooner, the sets & costumes are amazing, and Hartnell is having the time of his life -
#CollectionQuest has wrapped up S2 Disc 3: The Rescue. It’s a slight story, purely to bring Vicki in, but it’s a fun one, and it does its job perfectly. 2 parts is the right length & it’s a nice little whodunnit. Very enjoyable.
#CollectionQuest rumbles on to Dalek Invasion of Earth - a great story! You forget how good a writer Nation was; this one is so perfectly plotted, the world so perfectly built - it’s like John Wyndham writing for Doctor Who. There’s such subtle skill in making it look like…
#CollectionQuest and that’s Disc 1 of S2 done - Planet of Giants.
Actually quite liked this nifty little story! This TARDIS team is on top form here, there’s cracking chemistry between them. This is the version of the 1st Doctor that people should look to ape:
