This model baby carrier, also known as a cradle basket, dates to the early 19th century and is made of bear grass and maidenhair fern. It was given to the Museum as a gift in 1938 by Henry Kron and identified by both L. Dawson and Linda Yamane. #collectionscloseup #klamath
Absent from humans, the #baculum is a bone found in many male mammals, including that of the #seaotter, whose remains are pictured here. While this bone is linked to successful mating, scientists are still studying the mechanisms through which it operates. #collectionscloseup
