Department of Justice

@Indian_Analyzer It's high time, the #collegium_system is scrapped, if at all #judiciary is to be in the good books of the people.
#BRGavai has taken oath as the 52nd CJI ; Let me tell you that Gavai ji comes from the Dalit community, yet I oppose the #collegium_system. Because the collegium is against the spirit of the constitution and the job of the Supreme Court is to protect the constitution.

#India is the only country in the world to follow the
#collegium_system in the appointment of Judges to the higher judiciary and
the government has a role only after names have been decided by the collegium.

📌 Yes, a national-level judicial recruitment process should replace state-based selections
📌But it is also time to think that the opaque #Collegium_System for the appointment of judges in the higher judiciary should be replaced with a better system, where a national-level test
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Sunday endorsed the idea of a national-level recruitment process for the judicial services of all States. He said that the time has now come to think of national integration by having recruitment to judicial service which crosses "narrow domestic walls of regionalism and state-centred selections".
