Last night's COMICSGATE LIVE #1 was a show for the ages! But it's been age-restricted by YouTube. Matt Bahr came on and spoke His Truth, which was that ComicsGate has "changed" and resulted in lower sales. I don't think it's changed at all, although the lower sales are irrefutable all around crowdfunding, including Rippaverse. But let's get real here: Matt was repeating a line that PITT Volume #1 would be at a million dollars before whatever events lead to ComicsGate "changing." It's at $81,000 now and still climbing. Where are the backers that would have made up the other $919,000, and which Dungeoneer creators are enjoying that level of success now? My guess is that if the Tampa split had never happened, PITT would be at $83,000 now, perhaps. Otherwise the Math doesn't Math. This isn't 1992. A reprint of PITT #1-4 isn't bringing in a million dollars in 2025, nor do I believe it brought in a million dollars in 1992. (Maybe it did...I seem to remember Larry Stroman saying he earned $350,000 on TRIBE #1, a long way from $1M, but TRIBE wasn't exactly PITT.) PITT #1 TPB is going to do about $120,000 by the time it closes, which is damned respectable. And then issue #2 will launch, and then #3, and then #4. And then the collected omnibus. Mandy and Dale are going to do very well on the campaigns. The envious grasping over which creators get to help PITT and Dale Keown should be over now. There's an opportunity to mend a few rifts and improve some campaign sales for some folks if they want it. COMICSGATE KINGS is tonight at 7PMEST!
