A great evening of talks last night with the @barn_owl_trust 🦉
We heard how the Barn owl lives, hunts & how they are coping in our changing climate.
The @barn_owl_trust do lots of surveying, report your sightings of barn owls on their website.

We had a great time last night out learning about bats on our bat walk up around the Beacon. 🦇🦋🦇
As dusk drew in we used bat detectors to identify some of the bats swooping about using their echolocation skills to feed on flying moths & insects. 🐞🪰

Our monthly Bee Walk will be taking place this Wednesday as well as our family-friendly flower-printing workshop this Thursday. There's no need to book in advance for either event. We look forward to seeing you soon!

The Brown banded carder bees made a number of appearances, as well as others such as red-tailed bumblebee, meadow brown and some interesting solitary bees & wasps too! 🐝

This extremely rare pink grasshopper was found on Braunton burrows by 9-year-old Dylan Haines and his mum. Usually brown and green, this grasshopper has a mutation turning it pink.
We were super excited to hear about this find; well done Dylan!

This morning's bird recording walk gave us lots of species to see despite the rain. For example, a dipper, a blackcap, several wrens and so many ducks!
We also saw meadow brown and speckled wood butterflies, damselflies, red soldier beetles and pond skaters.
