Some of my fave Year 5 @MathsMastery multiplicative activities below ❣️ ❓ What's the same and what's different ❓ Dienes, place value counters, area models, short and long multiplication & more! 💬 #mathematicaldialogue 🧮#connectingrepresentations (where's a Dienes emoji?!)

6⃣ In Year 5, pupils continue to use an area model to represent calculations and extend this to multiply numbers up to 4 digits by one-digit and two-digit numbers. Before progressing to long multiplication, pupils turn expressions into an area model using Dienes blocks.

After I facilitated a math talk supporting right triangle trig, Mr. Mayfield did a great job making MORE connections between strategies! #connectingrepresentations @BoazHigh @AMSTI4all @AmstiUAH @ALSDEdotEDU @sledwell @egmackey
