My course #ContestingGlobalPower is built around intersections and also tensions between #capitalist, #patriarchal and #colonial power. The latter includes #racism and #coloniality today. Tensions include use of #anticolonial arguments to justify #patriarchy, also #pinkwashing.

Wonderful to get nice feedback in our #ContestingGlobalPower course. We had a great visitor, Tunisian professor Frej Stambouli, who used to be student of #FrantzFanon, to discuss #coloniality. Next week, Peruvian feminist sociologist Virginia Vargas. @helsinkiuni @SocSciHelsinki

Something to consider also in the discussion on the forthcoming report by Historians Without Borders @HWB_fi. The report will focus on the role of #colonialism in the teaching of history in Finland. Will also talk about it in my #contestingglobalpower class today.

@TeivoTeivainen @mjauhola Make them read an article on white fragility and white privillege so they understand global unequal power relations, current white masculinity rage, defensiveness and feelings of right to glibal dominance under threat.

Today in our class #contestingglobalpower, we explore #university as a site of #worldpolitics. Will analyse e.g. #RhodesMustFall movement to understand #coloniality in education. How to study #whiteness in Finnish academia? Any suggestions, @MkweshaFaith, @mjauhola or anyone?

Looks like a fascinating book on #Eurocentrism and #university. Congrats to its authors. This might also be helpful in my course #ContestingGlobalPower. How to think about #coloniality and #highereducation in Northern Europe? Any suggestions?
