De Internationale Dag van de Coöperatieven (#InternationalDayOfCooperatives of #CoopsDay) wordt elk jaar gevierd op de eerste zaterdag van juli.
Oorsprong: Sinds 1923 georganiseerd door de International Co-operative Alliance (#ICA).
In 1992/1995 officieel uitgeroepen door de Verenigde Naties.
Doel: Het bewustzijn vergroten over de rol van coöperaties bij duurzame ontwikkeling, economische inclusie, sociale rechtvaardigheid en gemeenschapsopbouw.
Coöperaties zijn democratische, op mensen gerichte bedrijven die eigendom en zeggenschap delen.
Wereldwijd worden evenementen georganiseerd om de kracht van coöperaties te vieren, vooral in sectoren als #landbouw, #bankwezen, #woningbouw en #zorg.
Het is ook een moment om hun bijdrage aan de VN-duurzaamheidsdoelen (SDG’s) in de schijnwerpers te zetten.
