A 30-year-old woman reached out to me for advice. She's been dating a 31-year-old man for about five months. They live in different towns, Sapele and Warri, respectively, and have only met twice: once at a restaurant and once at his house, where he lives with his mother. According to her, they haven't been intimate, but the man often talks about marriage. Recently, the man told her he wants to move into a different apartment because he doesn't think it's right to be planning marriage while still living under the same roof as his mother. As they discussed their future, she discovered they both earn about ₦120,000 monthly and both work as teachers in private schools. She also has a tailoring business and hopes to leave teaching once she gets a shop for her business. She added that the man is a graduate and earns his income from legitimate work. The issue now is that the man wants them to combine their resources and rent an apartment together first, then focus on marriage afterward. She says she's not completely against the idea, but she's worried and unsure whether contributing money to secure an apartment with a man she isn't married to is the right decision. Her question to me was simple: "Am I making the right choice if I agree to this, or should I be careful?" I am not going to advise her because she said she's not completely against the man's suggestion. Meaning, she only needs me validate what she wants to do. Remember what I said the other day about single ladies in their late 20s or 30s? Please go ahead to advise her if you may. End.
