Liberate Scotland will not be standing a candidate in the upcoming Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election. As a newly formed organisation, we are still in the crucial phase of building our foundations and bringing together a broad coalition of pro independence organisations. After careful deliberation, we have concluded that this by-election will not significantly impact the makeup of Holyrood. With that in mind, we believe it is in Scotland’s best interests that we focus our energy on uniting the independence movement and preparing for a transformative campaign in 2026 when real change can and must be made. Liberate Scotland is not here to put more people on the political gravy train. We are not interested in career politicians or symbolic seats. Our aim is to elect liberators, not just MSPs. The path to independence won’t be won through scattered efforts or token victories, it will be won through unity, strategy, and bold action.
