Sure you can save money by living off hot pockets and microwaved ramen cups, but you will probably end up paying for it ten-fold later on when your diet of fake "foods" causes serious health problems.
The affordability issue is a real one. Denying it won't make it go away. Both parties need to work to rein in the over-spending that causes inflation and stop allowing mass migration to undercut American wages. Simple as.
