We live in the Century of the Cuck. The word has infiltrated the English language to such an insane level that you could construct an entire meta commentary on what it means. Ultimately I think men just feel so emasculated as a gender across so many different national contexts that the word has become the perfect descriptor for a gender that just feels cucked by modern society. Sad way for a lot of men to be going out.
