A week after Washington forced Anthropic to disable its most powerful models, the likely reason is sharpening. According to reports Senator Mark Warner told a hearing that the NSA and Cyber Command chief said the firm's Mythos model penetrated almost all of the agency's classified systems within hours during authorized testing.
That demonstration sits behind the June 12 Commerce Department directive, which barred every foreign national, including Anthropic's own non-citizen employees, from using Fable 5 and Mythos 5, leading the company to pull both for all customers. It is the first time the US has export-controlled an AI model itself rather than the chips behind it.
Anthropic disputes the rationale, calling the cited trigger a narrow jailbreak that other models like GPT-5.5 also exhibit and the recall an overreaction.

The Karnataka State #CyberCommand has dismantled a major cyber fraud syndicate, arresting six individuals involved in a โน24 crore โ#DigitalArrestโ scam that targeted a 74 year old senior citizen in #Bengaluru.
The victim, Laxmi Ramamurthy, was duped by fraudsters impersonating senior officials of the #CBI and #ED, who coerced her into transferring her life savings.
According to DGP, Karnataka Cyber Command, Pronab Mohanty, the syndicate siphoned off โน24 crore from her #ICICI Bank account through 26 transactions routed into 23 mule accounts across 10 banks between February 10 and April 24, 2026.The scam was disrupted on April 24 when ICICI Bank flagged suspicious activity after the victim attempted to raise a โน3 crore gold loan. The Cyber Command Unit intervened, counseling her against further transfers and registering a formal complaint.
Police tracked the first-layer accounts via the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal#(NCRP) , freezing multiple mule accounts. Police managed to save over โน4 crore and recover โน1.46 crore through court orders.
The nationwide probe led to the seizure of six mobile phones and the arrest of six suspects:

In a rare and decisive crackdown on digital exploitation, the #Karnataka #CyberCommand has arrested two men for the creation and online dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material (#CSAM). The operation, executed by the #CyberCrime Police Station of #Bengaluru South District, stands out as one of the few instances where authorities have apprehended the primary creators and uploaders of such content rather than just consumers.
The investigation was triggered by a report filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (#NCRP), highlighting suspected production of exploitative content.Acting on the lead, Kaggalipura Police registered a case on May 10, 2026.
Investigations revealed that two minor girls had been exploited, with the acts recorded on mobile phones and subsequently uploaded online. Based on victim statements, a specialized team led by Police Inspector Vasanthkumar K. tracked and arrested the suspects on May 12, 2026.
The accused were identified as :
1. Kiran Kumar (A1): 29, originally from #Chitradurga District, residing in Kaggalipura.
2. Aditya M.K. (A2): 20, a swimming pool maintenance worker from #Shivamogga District, residing in Channapatna Taluk.
โThis case is one of the very few instances where content creators and uploaders have been apprehended,โ said Dr. Pronab Mohanty, IPS, Director General of Police, Cyber Command.
Police seized three mobile phones used in the crime. The FIR, initially filed under Sections 67 and 67(B) of the IT Act, has been expanded to include stringent provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 65(2), 70 and the POCSO Act Sections 4(2), 5(L), 5(M), 6, 14 and 15. The accused were produced before court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.

Inter-State Cybercrime Racket Busted in Gadag

In a significant breakthrough against #cybercrime, the Gadag District Police, working in close coordination with the #CyberCommand Center in #Bengaluru, have successfully dismantled an inter-state racket that specialized in creating fraudulent bank accounts to enable illegal online transactions. Acting on intelligence, the police arrested five individuals and seized vital digital evidence, including eleven mobile phones and eight bank kits containing passbooks and ATM cards from Bank of Maharashtra branches in #Gadag and #Haveri districts.
Investigations revealed that the accused targeted students from the Post-Metric Professional Boysโ Hostel in Gadag by luring them with promises of scholarship funds and financial incentives. To gain their trust, the suspects deposited โน2,000 into the studentsโ accounts as an initial requirement. Once the accounts were activated, the fraudsters took control of the passbooks, ATM cards, SIM cards, and internet banking credentials, using them for illicit transactions.
On March 11, 2026, police received a tip-off that the suspects were traveling to #Goa to hand over the compromised account details to higher-level conspirators. Under the guidance of the Gadag Superintendent of Police, a specialized team swiftly tracked and apprehended the group. The arrested individuals have been identified as Raja and Vakdoth Vakeel from #Vijayanagara District, Zeeshan Ansari from #Jharkhand currently residing in Goa, Akash, a DJ artist from #Chhattisgarh and Sahil, a student from Chhattisgarh.
During interrogation, the accused admitted they were en route to Goa to finalize commissions for the fraudulently opened accounts. While five suspects are now in custody, police are continuing their search for three more individuals believed to be part of the wider racket.

Bengaluru Cyber Command Busts Fake Call Center; Two Arrested in Stock Market Investment Scam

The Karnataka State #CyberCommand has dismantled a sophisticated fake call center operation in #Bengaluru that was defrauding the public under the guise of stock market investments.
Acting on a complaint, police raided M/s Multiwave Business Solutions Private Limited, located on the third floor of Anjanadri Avenue in Jayanagarโs 9th Block. The firm allegedly functioned as a front for a fraudulent call center employing 15 executives from other states, who were tasked with calling unsuspecting individuals and promising high returns on stock market investments. Once victims transferred funds into designated accounts, the accused would switch off their phones and vanish.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the scam. Kumawat Yogesh Amararam, originally from Surat, #Gujarat, and residing in Jayanagar, was identified as the prime accused. The second suspect, Imran, a resident of BTM 2nd Stage and originally from Hazrat Nizamuddin, #Delhi, was also apprehended. Investigators traced the fraudulent calls to BTM Layout through digital forensics, linking the IMEI numbers of mobile devices and associated Google email IDs directly to Amararam.
During the raid, authorities seized 31 mobile phones, 13 laptops, 16 SIM cards, company letterheads, and sheets containing victim details. Interrogations revealed that the gang sourced potential client data via #Google, used SIM cards registered in the names of slum residents and procured bank accounts from other states to facilitate the fraud. The stolen money was funneled through multiple โ#muleโ accounts before being withdrawn via ATMs and distributed among associates.
