#AUSSOM Sector 2 troops, joined Super El Niño preparedness in #Dhobley, Lower Juba. The anticipated measures aimed to improve access, strengthen infrastructure resilience, and help communities better withstand seasonal flooding.
Led by @KDFinfo engineers, the works included clearing drainage channels of silt and debris to improve water flow and reduce flood risks in residential areas and around critical infrastructure. The engineers also compacted key access routes to improve mobility and sustain key operations during the rainy season.
Dhobley and surrounding areas have experienced severe flooding in the past, with floodwaters cutting off key roads and rendering the airstrip inaccessible. #AUSSOMInTheSectors

VIDEO shows stranded travelers at the Mogadishu airport on Wednesday.
Travelers between #Kismayo, #Mogadishu, and #Dhobley are facing delays and increased scrutiny at Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport, as insiders say Somalia's Federal Government continues to impose additional restrictions and searches on passengers traveling to and from Jubaland.
Relations between Mogadishu and Jubaland have deteriorated since 2024, prompting the federal government to block local flights to some parts of Jubaland.
Areas such as Kismayo and Dhobley continue to face extra security measures that often result in lengthy delays or flight cancellations without explanation.
Road travel between these destinations is largely impractical due to security concerns, as Al-Shabaab militants control significant stretches of territory and pose a serious threat to civilians traveling by land.
#AUSSOM Sector 2 troops have begun a two-week Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) course at #Dhobley Main Operating Base, strengthening their capacity to detect, track and counter one of the fastest-evolving threats in today’s operational environment.
The training, opened by Commanding Officer Lt. Col. John Ochodo, focuses on counter-drone operations, airspace monitoring and threat mitigation. He underscored the need for discipline, attentiveness and continuous learning, noting that evolving threats demand vigilance and technical adaptability.
Blending classroom instruction with field exercises, the course allows troops to apply their knowledge in simulated scenarios, enhancing operational readiness and supporting efforts to maintain a secure and stable environment in #Somalia. #AUSSOMInTheSectors

#BREAKING: The Federal Government has lifted the ban on direct flights from #Kismayo to #Nairobi and from Kismayo to #Dhobley.
This decision addresses one of several key conditions recently submitted by the Ahmed Madobe to the National Salvation Council (Sharif-led Opposition) and subsequently relayed to President Hassan Sheikh.
Another major condition includes:
- Villa Somalia rescinding a court order for the arrest of Ahmed Madobe publicly.
This act does indicate the President is trying to reconcile with Madobe & possibly isolate Deni…
