The Executive has asked Parliament to put an hold on the petition while they find an amicable solution to the impasse and the Chief Minister @dsengeh is reportedly leading the negotiation.

Chief Petitioner who is also a member of Parliament #HonAlhajiMusaBambaKulioJalloh has urged Members of Parliament not to look at the petition of over 2000 Sierra Leoneans of #Diang, #Sambaia and #Dansogoia Chiefdoms where #Kasafoni Land is located as a petition against Government but to look at it as the #humanrights of the people whose lands are arbitrarily taken without regard for due process.
In their petition, the people asked Parliament to recognize their lease agreement with @GentoGroupWins and to declare null and void the Statutory Instrument No 11 of 2024 which establishes the Sierra Leone Mines and Minerals Development and Management Corporation #SLMMDMC for which #KasafoniLand is given to it in violation section 21 of the 1991 Constitution and Cap 116 of the Laws of Sierra Leone 1960.

Lead Petitioner for the People #Sambaia, #Diang and #Dansogoia Chiefdoms in Tonkolili District, Hon PC Member of Parliament #MusaBambaJalloh today laid the public petition on the #KasafoniLand in line Standing Order 17 of rules governing Parliament.
Among other things, the petition calls for Parliament to recognize the agreement of the people of the three Chiefdoms with @GentoGroupWins and for Parliament to declare null and void Statutory Instrument No 11 which gives their Land to Sierra Leone Mines and Mineral Development Management Corporation (SLMMDMC) as against Section 21 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone and the Public Land Act Cap 116 of the laws of Sierra Leone.
The petition was unanimously accepted by the House of Parliament.

Officials of the Government of President @julius_maadabio have resorted to attack on the media for reporting the public petition of the people of #Dansongoia, #Sambaia and #Diang Chiefdoms which they made to Parliament.
We expect that Government will look at the issue of land right which is protected by both domestic and international laws that have been raised by the people instead of name calling and attack.
It is a grave error for Government to sign off land belonging to the people to an agency in a statutory instrument without prior knowledge of the people and what the laws including the constitution says about compulsory acquisition.
Government Officials should be concerned about dealing with the points of law and best practices than resorting to name calling and attack.
