Excellent #DIScience21 by @AcademyHealth! There was a lot of great talk about #healthequity & #impsci. Remember: this work is hard & not everyone is an expert. We must meaningfully partner with BIPOC health equity scholars to ensure this work promotes sustained equity & justice.
Thanks so much to Drs. @NCIDAChambers @DrSimpsonHSR @NCI_ImplSci's Gila Neta for making #DIScience21 a success! Starting each April, they lead the discussions of the overall conference theme, plenary topic areas, amazing speakers to invite, scientific tracks. It's a work of love!
Now, a controversial opinion... the leading edges of our science may not always be complementary. For example, I can't do a fully powered examination of mechanisms AND slow down to do the work of long-term, equitable parternships with all trial sites. #DIScience21
Also, there is a growing consensus that if you are not doing #impsci partnered and with an eye to #equity, you're not doing good #impsci. It really is these things at the core. #DIScience21
