If you want to get an appreciation of the shitshow that is the Revit API with libraries using modern frameworks, try using Text.Json in your app and get working with Revit 2019-2023 #DllHell 🤦‍♂️

@chixcancode @shanselman Pre-everything-online it could take years to get an important piece of knowledge. In my case, where did the system look to load a dll, and in what order. Eventually Microsoft put the docs where Google could find them. #dllhell. This was just one.

The compiler told me some assembly versions were mismatched and I would need to write a “binding redirects” file. So I deleted the project and started over. #dllhell

@b0rk Dynamic libraries also allow bugs to be fixed without having to rebuild the applications. This is particularly important for security related libraries, like OpenSSL. Problems crop up, however, when incompatible API changes break applications without notice. #DLLHell
