@adaige A6: An environment based on mutual respect, understanding, trust and safety is paramount. A new grading system should be based on objectivity and what is developmentally appropriate. #DSGrading

A6: A great school is comprised of lots of different staff coming from different walks of life for basically a single purpose. Educate kids and do what's best for them. I don't think one set of beliefs would be the best policy when it comes to that. #DSGrading

A5: I think it depends on the assignment. For instance, proper formatting of a research paper would be important and should be graded when that is one of the learning targets. #dsgrading

@bchenry81 Yes! I do believe these are skills Ss should be able to do but... Is real world work about the learning or the performance? As a parent, I want to know what my child knows... separate from if it was neat... #DSGrading

A4: Availability before school during tutorial time. Also, those students who may have trouble getting here due to being a bus rider grabbing them during advisory time. #DSGrading

@adaige A4: Ss with uncertainty in their life need even more structure at school for success. Providing Ss with a clear sense of direction through unit plans, S examples, flexible due dates, and time to complete assignments at school (vs. homework) are good supports. #DSGrading

@mdashack A3: Meaningful grades aren’t objective, based on learning targets and are returned to Ss in a timely manner. #DSGrading

@ecolungasegura Could adding the TEK to the #s and having Ss track their understanding of those TEKS help? We need to find ways to support Ss ownership of their learning. #DSGrading

A2: When students are not ready, I still encourage them to attempt knowing that retesting is an option. It is case by case though depending on what the student may be going through. #dsgrading

A1: Before "closing the gap" with a retest, a S should be id what they did not master and prepare for the retest. #DSGrading

Yes. I think there should be evidence that the student has prepared. For example, completing a test reflection form. #dsgrading

A1: In the LOTE department, students cannot have any zeros in the gradebook before taking a retake. The earn late credit for the work and hopefully connect the importance of practice (assignments) and performance on assessments. #dsgrading
