Also sometimes called coneweb spiders, diguetids build webs in shrubs or between cactus pads. The web is a sheet with a cone-shaped retreat made of debris in the centre, surrounded by a structural tangle of silk. #DailySpider

Today's #DailySpider: the desertshrub spiders (family Diguetidae)!
This small family has only 16 species in 2 genera, and can only be found in the southwestern deserts of North America and parts of South America.

And here is Psilochorus hesperus, which can be found living under rocks and debris in western North America. #DailySpider

Pholcus phalangioides are probably the most common (or at least most recognizable) cellar spiders in North America but we have two more similar looking species in this genus (all are introduced). #DailySpider
Left: P. manueli
Right: P. opilionoides

Today's #DailySpider is the cellar spider (family Pholcidae).
Probably one of the commonest spiders humans encounter in homes, pholcids inhabit every continent except Antarctica.
Pictured: Pholcus phalangiodes, the longbodied cellar spider.

@Cataranea @Ibycter In the Midwest, these spiders are often out and active at night. Their white patterning makes them stand out against the leaves and bark. I assume that's why they get the name "ghost spiders." They also have really furry feet!
Here's a brief introduction to buzzing spiders (Anyphaenidae) by @aBugBlog. #DailySpider

Time to re-start the #DailySpider! We're back to the beginning of the alphabet.
A is for Anyphaenidae, the ghost spiders!

We have reached the end of alphabet. I think I may take a few days to recharge before starting over at the beginning. We have covered 26 spider families, but there are 94 more to go! #DailySpider
Z is for Zora, a wolf-like prowling spider in family Miturgidae. #DailySpider
This is Zora hespera, which occurs on the West Coast of North America from California to British Columbia.

Xenesthis immanis, amongst the new limited edition prints available! https://t.co/cLZwpkQHLR

Here's more about yellow sac spiders (note that the name of the family has changed from Eutichuridae to Cheiracanthiidae since I wrote the original post!) #DailySpider
https://t.co/22uJk5mwk0
Yellow sac spiders are often mistaken for brown recluse spiders, but can be differentiated based on their overall yellow colouration without obvious "fiddle" marking, 8 eyes in 2 rows, & dark feet. #DailySpider

Today's #DailySpider is the yellow sac spider, also known as the longlegged sac spider! (genus Cheiracanthium, family Cheiracanthiidae).
Widely feared & misunderstood, these spiders are not dangerous to humans.

Today's #DailySpider is Xenesthis (family Theraphosidae).
I am just going to share a bunch of other people's photos of these ridiculously beautiful pink & purple tarantulas.
Truly a #gatewayspider.

And a couple more lovely wanderers from French Guiana! #DailySpider

Here is another beautiful wandering spider (family Ctenidae, don't know which genus) from Guyana. #DailySpider

W is for wandering spiders (family Ctenidae)! #DailySpider
This is Phoneutria, one of the few spiders with venom that is very dangerous to humans.
Though we do have a few wandering spider species in North America, Phoneutria is only found in Central & South America.
