Miss thing here has been super jealous & apprehensive about the new puppy situation. She has slept in all week, but today, she was up and ready to walk. Glad to spend some one on one time with her so she knows she’s still loved. My best girl and walking buddy, #DaisyRaven

#DaisyRaven is 11 today. She was awake when I came home from the gym and wanted to go for a walk. Squeaky toys & duck jerky instead of cake and & cream.

I was at a swim meet most of the day & it’s raining #DaisyRaven is feeling neglected. Don’t let the eyes fool you, she’s snoring.
My #DaisyRaven has eaten raw for 4 or 5 years. She was in congestive heart failure, but that is gone. She has terrible allergies, better, but not completely alleviated.
She eats raw chicken legs, with bones, for dinner, soft boiled eggs & either tuna or salmon for breakfast and pork rinds or smoked chicken paws as treats. Occasionally, if I even have it in the house, she’ll eat carrots or sweet potato.
She is 10 years old, still loves her long walks & picks out a toy to play with every night. When she was eating dogfood, she walked with a limp and couldn’t play as it triggered wheezing because of her heart problem.
I should add that she is allergic to beef, that’s why we choose chicken & fish for her.

I’m fueled by #NSNG #carnivore, but the sun brings my energy. It brings great joy to recharge after a week of clouds.

A walk with #DaisyRaven, eggs, butter & ham, plus sunshine—a fantastic deterrent from cookies & grief.
My daughter, who wants to own a bakery, made these cookies. I heard her eating them so I know they have just the right crunch in the outside & soft on the inside. They are perfect.
Y’all. These are the daily decisions I have to make. In order to stay true to my goals, I must abstain. I live with a firm no on gluten because of my thyroid and a firm no to sugar because of my addiction. One will turn into months of turmoil.
Not only that, but if I eat these cookies, I will set back the progress I have made in my mental health. I am struggling today, feeling the pain of a death in the family, but I know one bite will derail me.
This is not a white-knuckle moment. This is me putting my goals ahead of a moment of perceived pleasure.
This is not selfish. I am no good to anyone if I am depressed, angry & out of control.
In moments of chaos, one of the only things we can control is what we allow to pass through our lips.
My choice to abstain is entirely based on me continuing to grow. I have lived in the darkness of depression and I never want to go back.
Hey, you out there…whatever it is that is calling you, trying to derail you, stealing you from your goals. Turn away from it. Focus on who you want to be. Focus on your why. You can get through it and feel better on the other side.
