It was falling. Let’s break this down. 🧠 Negative Premium Change on Calls — Why It Matters When spot price rallies into a call strike — and the premium declines — something is structurally wrong with the typical supply/demand story. The EW3K5 5970C strike saw a premium decline of -0.57, even as price moved toward it. Even the 5965C saw an even larger drop of -1.64, despite being deeper in-the-money. Both strikes had high open interest and elevated gamma, meaning dealers were likely short these calls. Translation: Price was rising, but call option values were crushing. That’s not natural — it’s engineered. 🔄 Dealer Positioning: Pin It and Win It Dealers short calls don’t want rising deltas or ballooning gamma exposure into expiration.
