Reading the #DearOLSD posts these last few days have brought tears to my eyes. I am saddened for our students, schools, & community. I am also embarrassed by the stories of racism shared. Olentangy, we are better than this. Our students deserve better than this-from all of us.
#dearolsd is raw and powerful. Consider following them. We must do better! We must grow! We must listen!
I have been reading about the racism and pains experienced by our BIPOC students on the #dearolsd Instagram account. I hear you!!! I will work to bring about change, ending these inequalities and injustices in our society.
I’m personally mixed with heartbreak & anger when reading ALL of the experiences of our students on the #DearOLSD Instagram account.
As more stories continue to be uncovered, we must continue to fight against racial oppression and inequality for our students.
Do MUST do better
ALL Ss have a right to feel safe at school. ALL Ss deserve to be treated with respect. Our Ss are bearing witness that too often that hasn’t been the case. My ❤️ is heavy but I’m inspired by your courage. I hear u. I support u. I stand with u. Most of all, I love u. #dearolsd
Sickened, heartbroken and angry by the #dearolsd posts. The fact that any of our students are experiencing any type of discrimination is absolutely unacceptable. Change is the only answer, there’s no other option.
#DearOLSD I spent a good bit of time reading reflections of students in my district. It was a sobering reminder that we’re a long way from the right side of justice and equality. I’m ready to stand with those students today and every day.

So many stories of OUR kids feeling isolated, hated, and betrayed. None of our students deserved to feel this way in our buildings. We need to continually strive to do better; “not racist” isn’t good enough anymore - we need to be anti-racist #dearolsd
