“Pastor” Brady Boyd personally undermined justice for a 12 year old. That 12 year old would come to know Boyd and the leadership of his church chose her perpetrator, pastor Robert Morris, over her, furthering more emotional and mental abuse and absolutely doing it in the name of God. Boyd still chooses himself first as if he’s truly on mission from God despite his reality and as if God is overlooking Boyd’s selfish actions and God’s own decree on justice against elders who betray the sacred trust of the sheep. Why? Boyd is obviously in ministry for himself. He’s not a sacrificial lover of the lambs. Instead, he’s shown the propensity to sacrifice others for himself. This isn’t unusual. Unfortunately, in my experience, most church leaders are in ministry for themselves. They’re in it for their reputation, the attention, adulation, notoriety, for ego, hierarchy, position and/or platform. Also, in my experience, it’s rare for a church leader not so be sold out to one or more of these temptations over selflessly following Jesus and sacrificially loving others, though they work very hard to make you believe otherwise. Experiential situations and close friendships with clergy have opened our eyes to the problematic personality types religious leadership attracts.
